True Love In The Vineyards

J&P got married last weekend in the shade of the Lausanne trees. I would like to congratulate them again wholeheartedly. I am really happy for them. They had a wonderful wedding under a radiant sun, surrounded by their loved ones and a great team of service providers! But I’ll tell you more about that later! … Their engagement photo shoot was…”True Love In the Vineyards”. I met them in June in the vineyards of Lavaux for their engagement shooting.

I organize a photo shoot with the future bride and groom a few weeks or months before their wedding.  It allows us to get to know each other better, to get used to the camera and to relax! Fortunately, there are some that are more comfortable with the camera. But one thing is guaranteed… we always end up laughing and having a good time! We shared this good time at sunset, between Lausanne and the Swiss Riviera, in the small village of Epesses, and then by the lake near Saint-Saphorin, in the beautiful vineyards of the Lavaux. J&P expressed their love for each other during this sweet moment!

How to prepare for your engagement photo shoot ?

I would like to take this opportunity to talk about something young couples often ask me: “Mary, do you have any advice for us on how to dress? ». It’s hard to answer that… It’s so specific to each couple, each skin tone, each body type. The location of the engagement photo shoot must also be taken into account. And we didn’t even mention the season yet! There are so many things that can affect your outfit.

My advice is to go for light colors because you’re getting married. White, the color of innocence and purity, the quintessential symbol of marriage… The advantage is that whatever the season, cream, white, beige, or sand, are colors that work great! Like J&P, you can choose other colors, but be sure that they contrast with the shooting location and that you’re matched to each other, with subtle touches and textures so we don’t lose sight of the main subject: your emotions…

Dress according to the weather! Leave the one-piece swimsuit in the closet if it snows! I’m exaggerating a little, but I want you to get the idea… If you’re cold, your stiffness will show in the pictures. If you are too hot, you will sweat and your shiny skin will be visible in the pictures. If we’re in town, you can wear heels. But in the woods, you should go for a pair without heels… I think you get the idea. Beyond the outfit, there are also the accessories. You can bring: a hat, jewelry, a blanket and pillows, a picnic, beers, a beautiful flower arrangement… The more your photo session is personalized, in matching tones, the more the photos you will receive will highlight your love!  Remember to always adapt your choice to the location and the season of your photo shoot.

Speaking of places to do this photo shoot, do you need some ideas? For starters, why not just do it at home? Or in a nice hotel room? We could also go outdoors in a place where you like to go on Sundays. In the mountains, forest, beach, or in the countryside with beautiful sunflower fields, wheat, corn, flowers… I’m in for all these place! And then there are places you wouldn’t think of at first sight… in the water of course at the lake or the sea! How about a (tropical) greenhouse, a museum, a parking lot, a train station, a university (like the EPFL) with ultra-modern and graphical architecture, the subway, or a boat?…

Well, with all that, if you don’t have a few pointers to help you imagine your own engagement photo shoot, I don’t know what else to do… Oh yes, I can also share a little Pinterest mood board with you! I hope all these suggestions helped you! Feel free to leave me a little comment to share your ideas with me!

Please take a look at some pictures from their photo shoot. I would like to thank them for their trust and allowing me to share them with you.
